What to have ready
- The town, and roughly when the roof was last replaced.
- What you are seeing: a ceiling stain, granules in the eavestrough, shingles on the lawn, ice at the eave.
- Whether this is going through insurance, and the date of the storm if so.
- Photographs from the ground of the elevation you think is affected.
- Whether the attic is finished, and whether there is a bathroom fan vented into it.
Service area
Call, do not email, if
- Water is coming through a ceiling now.
- A storm has taken shingles off and more weather is forecast.
- Part of the roof deck has visibly sagged or given way.
- There is ice hanging over a doorway or a walkway.
- A tree or branch is resting on the roof — do not go up.
